The Round Cut or “Brilliant Round” is the most common fancy shape diamond, and the most popular choice for engagement rings. Due to their perfect proportions and symmetry, Round cuts are quintessential sparklers and emit exceptional fire and brilliance. Their universal shape works in an endless number of setting styles.
The Princess Cut tends to be second most popular in the fancy shapes of diamonds and has a high degree of brilliance. Being a square-cut diamond, the 90-degree corners must be protected by decent claws when set into a ring. Princess Cut Diamonds are well priced since they do not result in much wastage when cut from a rough diamond.
Regarded as an elegant cut stone, Emerald Cut diamonds do not have the same brilliance as the Round or Princess Cut but they hold their colour really well. They are quite see-through and hence require higher standards of clarity. Less flashy than the other shapes, Emeralds are considered as vintage cuts

Due to their romantic symbolism, Heart Shaped diamonds are commonly used in jewellery bought as gifts for wedding anniversaries or for Valentine’s Day. When selecting a heart shaped diamond, symmetry is essential, as the two halves of the heart must be identical. Also, the diamond should preferably be above 0.50 carats, as the heart shape is difficult to perceive in smaller size diamonds.
The Oval Cut Diamond is a modified version of the Round Cut. It is the perfect choice for buyers who are looking for characteristics similar to the Round Cut, but would like something in a shape that is more unusual. The attractive curves and unique faceting of Oval diamonds allow maximum, scintillating sparkle.
The shape of a Marquise Cut Diamond resembles the hull of a sailboat. Because of the elongated shape, this cut gives the illusion of a greater sized diamond. On the flipside, color and clarity imperfections are more obvious than they are in traditional Round Cut diamonds.
Radiant Cuts appear to be a fusion of the Round Cuts and Emerald Cuts, shaping up as square, near-square or rectangular. Radiant Cut Diamonds have more durability against chips, which is great for those who are rough with their jewellery. Radiant Cut diamonds have the second most brilliance after the Round Cut.
The Asscher Cut Diamond has an appearance similar to an Emerald Cut Diamond, with the main difference being that it is square with uniquely angled and cropped corners. This diamond shape boasts 8 edges and projects a distinct fire when cut correctly. The Asscher diamond also has a certain antique, elegant feel.
The antique style Cushion Cut, also known as a Pillow-Cut or Candlelight Diamond, comes in rectangular or square shapes and appears to be a mix of a square and round stone. Although not as fiery or brilliant as many of the newer cuts, it has a romantic and classic long-lasting look, inspiring difference.
